“It’s normal for everything not to feel real.”
What helped you the most in those first 48 hours?
“The nurses and doctors were beyond patient and thorough. As well as a social worker who came to be with us in the middle of the night for support.”
What’s is one moment in those first 48 hours that you’ll never forget?
“A few hours after being admitted to the oncology floor at our children’s hospital, Skye stopped breathing and her body shut down. We thought it was going to be too late to save her, but the doctors worked tirelessly the rest of the night to bring her back.”
If you could go back, what’s one thing you’d tell yourself?
“You are going to feel stuck, like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But you get through it, one way or another.”
