Jensen’s Survivor Story

The story detailed below is an account written by Jensen’s mom about his journey with pleura pulmonary blastoma.Jensen's Survivor Story

After having trouble breathing and pneumonia Jensen was diagnosed with pleura pulmonary blastoma. Treatment consisted of chemotherapy, vincristine, Ifosfamide and many other treatments. During treatment, he had two chest tubes and multiple surgeries to fix them. Doctors discovered that the tumor took up my whole left side.

He spent 84 days at Akron Childrens while fighting for his life. The tumor was removed two months after being diagnosed and went home just a few days later. Chemotherapy was completed after six months and in December 2018 Jensen received his last treatment.

Jensen is living life to the fullest as a normal four year old.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone on treatment or newly diagnosed?
Live each day, minute to minute, hour to hour. You will appreciate the little accomplishments and it will give you more faith. Oh, and it’s okay to have a breakdown – just not too long, pick yourself up and keep moving forward.
