Kalea was diagnosed with medulloblastoma at 6 years old, and Noah was diagnosed with medulloblastoma at 4 years old. They have both passed away.
What’s one thing you wish you had known in those first 48 hours?
“I wish they were more clear on what to expect after surgery, and based on the imaging, we were told it is most likely aggressive, so I wished they gave us the possible plan after surgery in regards to treatment.”
What helped you the most in those first 48 hours?
“Being able to have my husband and son with me and our daughter since our daughter was diagnosed first. Having family there was comforting. 13 days later, when our son was diagnosed, it was nice that out children’s rooms were located next to each other.”
What’s is one moment in those first 48 hours that you’ll never forget?
“As soon as the doctor came and pulled the curtain back in the ER and said “I’m sorry, we found a mass in her brain and we arranging transport to the children’s hospital.” And when they came to tell us about our son, they pulled the curtain back in the ER and said “I’m sorry, but we found a mass in the same spot that his sister had it.””
If you could go back, what’s one thing you’d tell yourself?
“Savor every moment with your children, stressing will not change the outcome or the plan, or help anyone out.”
