Only a Few More Days Left to Add Your Voice to the Chorus: Make Your Recording by February 8!

International Childhood Cancer Day is only a few short days away, and that means the highly-anticipated release of the Child4Child song “We Are One” is also only days away.  That’s right: on International Childhood Cancer Day—February 15—Child4Child will release this amazing new song, composed by Christophe Beck and sung by children around the world, to show children fighting childhood cancer and their families that they are not alone.  Nearly a million children and teens from across the globe have already raised their voices in song to support the many thousands of children bravely battling childhood cancer.

There is still time to add your voice to the growing chorus, to be a part of this amazing international event, but you must make a video of your child singing by Monday, February 8.

If you are interested in adding your child’s voice to this amazing chorus, here’s what to do:

  1. Go to child4child.com;
  2. Listen to the chorus already recorded by some incredible child singers to learn the words;
  3. Click the yellow “Record the Chorus” button to record your child’s version of the chorus!

All voices posted to the Child4Child website before Monday, February 8 will be compiled by Mr. Beck and his talented musical team into one amazing soundtrack, and then combined with the verses of the song, which have not yet been released but have already been recorded by very special musical talents such as Livvy Stubenrauch, the voice of Anna in Disney’s Frozen, and other incredible voices from America’s Got Talent, The Voice Kids Australia, and Britain’s Got Talent.  When Child4Child launched this amazing initiative on January 11, we believed “We Are One” would be the greatest super-song in the history of childhood cancer, and now, three weeks later, we believe even more strongly than this recording is going to change the face…and the voice…of childhood cancer forever!

The words to the chorus are powerful, moving, and simple:

We are young

We are strong

And we will sing this song together

So sing along.

And as one

We will rise

We won’t give up the fight

Until the night, yields to the sun.

We are one.

What Is Child4Child?

Child4Child is the initiative of Garbergs Advertising Agency, the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation, and Childhood Cancer International (CCI), the largest patient-support organization for childhood cancer in the world. The American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) is the sole US-based member of CCI, maintaining a Board of Directors the majority of which are parents of children who have faced childhood cancer or who are childhood cancer survivors themselves.  The goal of Child4Child is simple: to bring together as many voices as it can, working ‘in harmony’ together, to remind the world about the terrible toll childhood cancer takes on cancer’s youngest victims, to shine a spotlight on the desperate need for new and better treatment options for children fighting cancer, and to demand equal access to vital treatment, medications, and even basic healthcare for children in low-income countries.

Together, CCI and ACCO seek to represent the needs of children and adolescents with cancer, childhood cancer survivors, and their families. Working in partnership with international development organizations, policy makers, civil society organizations, health, research and medical professionals, CCI and the ACCO both strive to advocate for recognizing children’s rights and prioritizing childhood cancer as an integral part of the local, national, and global child health and development agenda. Child4Child is just one element of our on-going campaign to make the voices calling for an end to childhood cancer louder than ever before. We appreciate your help, support, and participation in this incredible international event!

We Are One” #Child4Child

A simple phrase that carries a powerful message.  A message to children around the world bravely fighting childhood cancer that they are not alone, that the world stands united with them to finally make childhood cancer an international healthcare priority!

It takes a special person to come up with such a powerful, yet simple message and make it accessible to everyone around the world.  Childhood Cancer International (CCI), the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO), and CCI’s other member organizations around the world feel so privileged that Mr. Christophe Beck, along with his daughter Sophie, have agreed to lend us their considerable musical talents to make “We Are One” a smashing success.

Composer Christophe Beck

Untitled-2Mr. Beck composed “We Are One” specifically for this international campaign to raise awareness about the threat childhood cancer poses to today’s children and families, while Sophie has already recorded her beautiful voice singing the chorus to show us how it’s done.  Moreover, Mr. Beck has agreed to compile all the many global voices singing the chorus, together with the voices of 14 childhood musical talents singing the verses, to create a spectacular recording for release on February 15th, International Childhood Cancer Day.  At the ACCO, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Beck and his family for all his hard work making childhood cancer history!

Mr. Beck is an internationally-acclaimed composer best known for creating the soundtrack to Disney’s smash hit Frozen, but he has also composed soundtracks for other Hollywood blockbusters such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians: the Lightening Thief, the 2011 release of The Muppets, The Hangover movies, Ant Man, Edge of Tomorrow, and Crazy, Stupid, Love.  He has also scored numerous popular TV series, including the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, receiving the Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for his score to the episode “Becoming, Part 1.”  A Canadian by birth, Mr. Beck and his family now reside in LA.  For more information on Mr. Beck and his many musical accomplishments, please visit his website at: http://christophebeck.com/.

Child4Child is live now, so all you need to do is go to www.child4child.com and use the yellow button to record your child singing along to the chorus.  It’s that easy.  Recordings received by February 8 will be compiled together by Mr. Beck into a beautiful, amazing single—“We Are One”—for release on February 15th, International Childhood Cancer Day.

Childhood cancer is a devastating disease that strikes more than 250,000 children every year.  That’s more than 700 children who receive a cancer diagnosis every day!  Yet research into more effective and less toxic treatments geared specifically for the small bodies of cancer’s youngest victims continues to lag behind research into adult cancers and communicable diseases.  The goal of the Child4Child campaign is to remind the world that children around the world facing this disease and their families need our help now.  Adding your voice to the chorus is a great first step, but we hope you will do more and help us spread the word about this important awareness campaign.

Child4Child Starts Today:
Add Your Voice to the Chorus

Today, January 11, the ACCO joins with Childhood Cancer International (CCI) to launch a fun, exciting, amazing new initiative that we believe will change the face…
or should we say, the voice…of childhood cancer forever!

That’s right: today, January 11, we are pleased to announce the commencement of Child4Child, a worldwide childhood cancer event that will bring the children of the world together in song in support of the hundreds of thousands of children around the world who are bravely battling this terrible disease.  And the best part: you and your family can be a part of it!

The goal of Child4Child is to create an amazing recording of a new song—“We Are One”—that uses the voices of children from around the world to produce a beautiful chorus of voices, to show children and families struggling with childhood cancer that the world stands with them, that they are not alone.  By raising their voices together in song, children will remind policymakers, scientists, industry, and indeed the world that the time has finally come to make childhood cancer an international child health priority.

“We Are One” is a very special song composed specifically for this spectacular event by Christophe Beck, best known as the composer of Disney’s Frozen soundtrack. The verses of the song have already been recorded by very special musical talents such as Livvy Stubenrauch, the voice of Anna in Disney’s Frozen, and other incredible voices from America’s Got Talent, The Voice Kids Australia, and Britain’s Got Talent.  On February 15, International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD), the full version of the song will be released by Christophe Beck with these children singing the verses and the voices of children around the world singing the chorus together. It promises to be the greatest super-song ever in the history of childhood cancer!

We need your help to make this happen!

This important Child4Child initiative is the first international awareness campaign that aims to bring together childhood cancer advocacy groups, parents’ groups, and survivors’ groups from around the world together, working literally “in harmony” with each other to remind the world of the terrible toll this deadly disease takes on the world’s children. Despite amazing advances in treatments and survival rates for many adult cancers, treatment for childhood cancers lags far behind, continuing to rely on outdated medications that were not designed for the small, still developing bodies of children. More than 250,000 children are diagnosed every year with a form of childhood cancer, and unfortunately, more than 90,000 of these children won’t survive. The childhood cancer statistics are especially grim in the less developed world, where far too many children lack access to much-needed cancer treatments or even, in too many cases, basic medical care.

Child4Child is the initiative of Garbergs Advertising Agency, the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation, and Childhood Cancer International (CCI), the largest patient-support organization for childhood cancer in the world with members composed of more than 180 grassroots and national parent organizations from more than 90 different countries. The American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) is the only US-based CCI member, meeting CCI’s high standards for membership: the majority of ACCO’s Board of Directors continue to be parents whose children have faced childhood cancer or who are childhood cancer survivors themselves.
