2017 National Awareness Tree Event

THE 2017 GO GOLD NATIONAL AWARENESS TREE

The American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) has honored and commemorated thousands of children since the year 2000, who have had their lives turned upside down by childhood cancer. Each year, our over 20-foot-tall tree is decorated with thousands of gold ribbons, each ribbon bearing the name of a child who has been affected by childhood cancer.
Order your ribbon today and join us as we Light Up the Holidays with Hope. Ribbons ordered after Monday, December 4th, may not be added to the tree in Newport Beach, but are handmade and sent to families after the holidays.

THE 2017 NATIONAL AWARENESS TREE EVENT

Thanks to The City of Newport Beach and its Chamber of Commerce, we are excited to share that this year the tree will stand tall again at the Marina Park in Newport Beach, CA, for anyone who is able to visit! The 2017 National Childhood Cancer Awareness Tree will again be a part of the 109th Newport Beach, California Holiday Boat Parade taking place on Wednesday, December 13th to Sunday, December 17th. The National Awareness Tree will once again “Light Up the Holidays with Hope” and will adorn thousands of gold ribbons, each ribbon bearing the name, age, and state of a child who has been diagnosed with cancer.

On Wednesday night, December 13th, they will have the LA Chargers providing us a Field Goal toss competition; and the LA Chargers cheerleaders will be at Marina Park signing autographs. The Chamber of Commerce Newport Beach will have food, beverages, and activities like face painters and cartoonists for kid-friendly entertainment.

FIREWORKS

On the opening night of the parade on Wednesday, December 13 at approximately 6:15 pm, a special opening fireworks display will take place off the Newport Pier to kick off the parade. Then, on the final night of the parade, Sunday, December 17, a special fireworks display will close out the parade from the Balboa Pier. Beginning at approximately 9:00 pm, the fireworks will be visible from all around the harbor.
