In 1970, when a small group of parents formed the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, they adopted a motto based on an ancient Chinese proverb:

"It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness"

The national organization is now called the American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO). As the Arkansas affiliate of ACCO, we embrace the notion that hope is essential if families are to survive the childhood cancer journey.

The childhood cancer experience can be an enormous challenge for families. We believe that no family should have to go through this difficult time alone. American Childhood Cancer Organization of Arkansas is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer and their families. ACCO Arkansas is the only organization in Arkansas that is dedicated exclusively to meeting the unique needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families.

American Childhood Cancer Organization of Arkansas is a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization that promotes public awareness of childhood cancer and provides emotional, educational, social, and practical assistance to children with cancer and their families. We also support research to find less-toxic treatments for our nation's youngest cancer patients.
